How devastating is poor organization and management to a country and its people? How can we ensure better leadership and a better tomorrow for our children?
These are some of the themes explored and laid bare in the film Kikulacho – the Bite Within. Kikulacho is a powerful Kenyan documentary that examines how corrupt systems and policies have impacted on the common people. But it is also a story of hope and triumph that aims to look at how our institutions and leadership can be shaped by the people themselves to realize their dreams.
The country is just a few weeks away from voting in a referendum on whether to adopt a new constitution. The last time a referendum took place on the same issue it bitterly divided the country and sowed the seeds for the discord and violence that rocked the country and shocked the world in December 2007.

Using powerful, historical archive, interviews with people across the country and a haunting music score the film seeks some answers to these questions.

1. Did you get any support from organizations such as the World Bank in producing this film?
2. Are there any plans to distribute this film through such organizations?
Hi! The Movie is a Transparency International project. Distribution is via Africa 24 Media and we are hoping to reach as many Kenyans through our free screenings at Westgate Silverbird cinema’s as well as through National broadcaster, Nation TV, who will broadcast the film on Saturday 17th at 9:45pm
Thank you for your response. I hope the local staff of the WB and particularly its Country Director, will have a chance to see it.
I watched yesterday on NTv…and it was more as a coincidence…it was a real eye opener…it serves as very good civic education opportunity
When is the next screening in theatre or TV? Could you also share it on youtube?
Thank you Bernie for your comment. We are hoping to have more screenings on national TV in the coming weeks leading to the referendum. Follow us on http://www.facebook.com/kikulacho as well as http://www.twitter.com/a24media.com for more information.
Hey. Kindly please have something arranged with ntv to try and have them upload the whole movie onto their website. I really want to watch this movie but am in the diaspora. Thanks.
I watched Kikulacho on Saturday nite and that was one fine piece of documentary/film every Kenyan should watch. It shows where we have come from why we have made the mistake and what changes we should make for a better Kenya. It invokes the inner inquiry of every Kenyan on patriotism 0- if we know not from whence we come, we are doomed to live in shame. The narrator does it well Well done Tito.
Thank you Macharia. Kindly help us spread the word about the film by joining our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/kikulacho and invite you friends to the group.

Hello guys! thank you for the brilliant work i saw it on k24 this weekend. All is not lost because i still believe that their are enough young people in this country like me who aspire that kenya becomes a state with equal opportunities for everyone devoid of corruption and the many ills that afflict our country today. Having come to Nairobi at the tender age of four and lived in the eastlands suburb of kayole since 1989 upto today i have seen many of my pals join groups that are illegal due to general apathy, disillusionment, lack of jobs and police brutality and many diverse reasons the social and economic fabric having collapsed during moi’s reign and kibaki’s first term.
The new constitution i hope will herald a new dawn in the lives of all kenyans.Keep up the good work.
